Acrylic, Resin, Gold Leaf

30” x 36”

Interpretation is inspired by the work of Antoni Gaudí and the architecture of La Sagrada Familia. Rather than copying specific details, this piece reflects how the building feels to me—layered, alive, and full of movement.

The fragmented shapes and mosaic-like patterns reference Gaudí’s use of broken tile and organic forms. Colors shift between cool blues and greens and warmer reds and golds, creating contrast between calm and energy, light and grounding. These changes echo the way La Sagrada Familia moves between sky, stone, and light. The dark background allows the forms to stand out, much like stained glass glowing within a cathedral. Subtle decorative elements act as quiet points of focus, inviting the viewer to slow down and look more closely.

Ultimately, Interpretation is about reverence without imitation. It reflects my fascination with Gaudí’s belief that nature, faith, and structure are inseparable, and my desire to reinterpret that philosophy through abstraction. The work asks the viewer to experience architecture not as a fixed monument, but as an emotional landscape—one shaped by memory, movement, and personal meaning.
