Miles

Andrea Facusse

Walking around, looking at places

Watching from afar, reactions on faces

In plain view I see, there is no guarantee

In spite of the smiles the sadness runs for miles.

Birds of Paradise

Andrea Facusse

Deep within an abundance of green

A river flows loudly in between

Hidden throughout this eternal destination

Without expectation and full of imagination

They prance and dance and fly gracefully

There’re so many flying across the terrain

The sky fills up with a colorful stain

They travel for miles singing their tune

They fly to a charming turquoise lagoon

They rest and feed so peacefully

They fly all across these grand blue skies

As they get to know this gorgeous paradise

They eat and enjoy all the colorful foods

The rainbow in the clouds makes them conclude

This is the place they have chosen happily.

They spend their days flying around

From tree to tree and onto the ground

They find a mate to be their guide

They make a home and nest by night

They grow their family gladly.

These are the Birds of Paradise

They live in a tropical paradise.

Their beautiful colors light up the sky

They will conquer anyone passing by

They can never be forgotten, indefinitely.

Suddenly, they hear a roaring sound

A tumbling across the forest ground

They peer closely just to see

A yellow monster rummaging their trees

Their green paradise cries belligerently

It doesn’t take them very long

To realize that they need to be gone

Their nesting home is no longer there

They need to migrate elsewhere

They search for shelter desperately

Even though it is not yet the time

For them to make this exhausting climb

They will surely begin their flying

Or they will most definitely die trying

Their new home awaits them openly

They migrate away

Traveling non stop almost every day

However strenuous their passage may be

They will take their family to safety

They journey to their new home happily.

These were the Birds of Paradise

They lived in a tropical paradise.

Their beautiful colors lit up the sky

They conquered anyone passing by

They will never be forgotten, indefinitely.
